Wiring – Electronic Boost Controller

Wiring overview

The Boost Controller uses a 4-pin connector located on the back of the unit.

Power:

  • 12V Power (middle left) – connect to ignition-on power source
  • Ground (middle right) – connect to chassis or ground wire

Solenoid:

  • Top left – signal output to solenoid valve
  • Middle left – 12V power supply (same as controller power input)

Additional Functions:

  • Hi/Lo Boost Switch – connect to ground via external toggle to switch between high and low settings
  • RPM Signal – connect from tachometer output or 5V ignition signal

Solenoid Ports

Boost Controller - Solenoid Ports LD Performance

Solenoid connections

For 3-port solenoid valve setup:

  1. Port 1 – Vent to atmosphere (attach filter loosely so it can breathe)
  2. Port 2 – Wastegate
  3. Port 3 – Turbo pressure source

Ensure all lines are secure and fittings airtight.

External Wastegate

Basic Operation

When the ignition is turned on, the display shows live boost/vacuum.
Press the knob to open the menu — you’ll find three main settings:

SET DUTY

Controls the solenoid duty cycle (0–100%).

  • 0% = lowest possible boost (mechanical wastegate spring pressure)
  • 100% = highest achievable boost
Adjust gradually to reach your desired boost level.
START BOOST
Determines the pressure at which the solenoid begins operating. Keeping the wastegate closed until this point helps reduce turbo lag.
Raising this value too close to target may cause overshoot — fine-tune carefully.
OVERBOOST LIMIT
Safety feature that cuts solenoid output if boost exceeds this limit.
The screen will display an overboost warning.
Set slightly above your target pressure.

Hi / Lo Boost Mode

Connect an external switch from the designated wire to ground to toggle between High and Low boost maps instantly.
Each mode stores its own settings (Duty, Start Boost, Overboost, etc.), allowing quick changes between track and street setups.

Boost by RPM

Compensate for boost drop-off at higher RPMs.
When enabled, the controller increases solenoid duty at a user-defined RPM range.

To enable:

  1. Turn off the controller.
  2. Press and hold the knob while turning ignition ON.
  3. Adjust the displayed RPM to match engine speed.
  4. Press to confirm.
  5. New menu appears with:
    • Start: RPM to begin increasing Duty
    • End: RPM where max Duty is reached
    • Duty: Amount of additional Duty (%)

Example:
If boost drops from 1 bar to 0.6 bar at 8,000 RPM, you can add +5% Duty between 5,000–8,000 RPM to maintain stable pressure.

Advanced Mode

This mode will give you access to the advanced features of the LDperformance boost controller.
Here you can automatically adjust DUTY within limits to maintain consistent boost across the RPM range — especially useful if it drops at higher revs.

Long press the knob to enter the menu:

BOOST TARGET
Set your desired target boost. Turning the knob fully left disables auto adjustment.
MAX CORRECTION
Specifies how far Duty can auto-correct (+/– %). Example: if set to 10%, a base Duty of 60% can range between 50–70%.
PID Settings
Default: P = 10, I = 2, D = 0.

Only modify if you understand PID tuning — defaults work well for most setups.

Switching between BAR and PSI

To change display units:

  1. Turn off the controller.
  2. Press hold the knob and turn ignition ON.
  3. Press repeatedly through “RPM” → “More settings” → “Restore def?”
  4. Press again to confirm reset.

Repeat the process to switch back.

VNT Mode (for Some Diesel Engines)

To enable Variable Nozzle Turbo (VNT) control:

  1. Turn off the controller.
  2. Hold the knob and turn ignition ON.
  3. Navigate through “RPM” → “More settings” → find “VNT?” → press to enable.
  4. Repeat to disable.

In this mode, the solenoid remains fully open (100%) until reaching “Start Boost,” then applies the configured Duty.
